CfP: SASA conferences strive to advance our understanding of South Asia’s peoples, cultures, histories, issues and opportunities in a professional environment notable for its relaxed atmosphere and warm collegiality. Participants come from all parts of the US, Europe, and South Asia.

Your attendance sends a strong signal that South Asian Studies programs need to figure prominently in university life across the globe. Your presentations further the discipline and increase cross-cultural understanding.

We welcome papers from all academic disciplines and all periods of time that address the rich tapestry that is South Asia’s past, present, and future. We also encourage university students interested in any facet of South Asian life or scholarship to join us at this conference.

PLENARY SPEAKERS
Ms. Nushin Arbabzadah, author, journalist, analyst, translator, and UCLA visiting scholar/instructor. Ms. Arbabzadah writes on Afghanistan affairs for The Guardian.
Dr. Paul R. Brass, professor (emeritus) at the University of Washington (Seattle), and prolific scholar, Dr. Brass has published widely on comparative politics, South Asian politics, ethnic politics and political violence. He will speak on “Indira Gandhi and India Today.”

ABOUT THE VENUE
Westminster College is a 15 minute drive from SLC International Airport, about five minutes from downtown and easily accessible by UTA bus and light rail TRAX services. Founded in 1875, Westminster has approximately 3,000 students. It is a charming campus located in an attractive neighborhood with great public transportation access to all of Salt Lake City. Unique in the state of Utah, Westminster offers a well-established program in India for students interested in community service.
