<p>SOAS, University of London is the world’s leading institution for the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East, offering programmes in arts, humanities, languages, law and social sciences. Inaugurated in June 1916, SOAS has had an international reach since the arrival of its first students in February 1917 and is celebrating its Centenary in 2016.  We uniquely combine language scholarship, disciplinary expertise and regional focus, and have the largest concentration in Europe of academic staff concerned with these specialisms.</p>
<p>Applications are invited for the post of Senior Lector in Sanskrit.  This is a part-time post (0.5 FTE) fixed term for four years. The post holder will develop, convene and deliver a range of Sanskrit modules and programmes, taking primary responsibility for all Sanskrit language teaching to undergraduate, postgraduate and non-degree students.</p>
<p><strong>The post holder will teach Sanskrit at all levels</strong> [to a maximum of 10.5 hours per week], design and deliver module plans and materials, administer and mark examinations and other assessments, as well as provide support for junior colleagues.  The post holder will contribute to departmental activities.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will be expected to possess a qualification in a relevant field, expert knowledge of Sanskrit, as well as relevant experience teaching the Sanskrit language and producing suitable course materials.  The person appointed will be expected to <strong>begin as soon as possible from 1 September 2016</strong>.</p>
<p>This post is fixed term for four years.</p>
